And It Was Positive…

I got challenged when my husband hinted that I couldn’t carry espadrilles and backpacks—he said it just wasn’t my thing, so for Christmas those were the exact things I had him buy me. Of course I wanted to prove him wrong, espadrilles were never¬†my preference but I think I look fine in them. What do you think?

Btw, I just found out yesterday that I’m pregnant. Marco and I are¬†going to have our own little family and I’m going to be a mommy! Exciting times ahead.

Funny story really…Marco was at work the entire day and I was supposed to get an ultrasound not for anything else but to check if everything in my “system” was okay. Something urged me to not do the ultrasound and buy a pregnancy test instead, I don’t know what it was I guess it was my woman’s instincts bothering me, so I did. I figured if I buy this test and it comes out positive then I don’t have to do the ultrasound anymore because clearly my “system” is working perfectly fine and it’ll save us some money.

I tested and the first line was distinct, the second line was barely there and so I thought “that’s another negative”, I put it back inside the box then inside the brown paper bag and tossed it in the trash. But I was still uneasy and I knew I wasn’t imagining the second line being barely there so I googled it. Yes, Google is very useful in times like these and I checked pictures of positive pregnancy tests and some of their tests looked just like mine, I would later find out from my husband that the reason why the second line was faded was because the Hcg levels weren’t high enough for the test to detect it but it did detect the little of what was there and so it was still faded. You could picture what happened next…I went through my trash, pulled out the brown paper bag, took out the box, re-opened it and there it was the second line more distinct than before. I was pregnant!

And here it is…

Marco a few days prior to this would tease me a lot, he’d rub my tummy and say “hellooooo and welcome” like how Jason Segel in the comedy Sex Tape said it. He came home from work around 10 pm that¬†night and I welcomed him with my version of “hellooooo and welcome” while waving the test in the air. He said “what’s that?” but he was already smiling, I gave the test to him and asked him “that’s a positive, right?” He saw both lines and smiled.

Today we’re going to the lab to confirm the pregnancy with blood work. ¬†(that too would come out positive)

P.S: Hopefully I won’t be too¬†insecure¬†to post¬†pregnant ootds after this. Haha.

Chateau Hestia

Chateau Hestia,a small hidden garden restaurant¬†nestled in Cavite was where my husband decided to bring me for our Valentines date and the ambiance that night was perfect— just a mixture of quaint and romantic all rolled up into one. Shout out to Jiro for telling Marco to take me here (haha, he told me he asked advise from you).

Had to change into flats, it was really slippery heading to the main dining place since it started raining

Marco reserved a place for us outside with the night sky ambiance while having dinner but it was raining that day so we ended up having dinner inside which turned out to be such a wonderful experience.

The set menu for the night but we were feeling quite adventurous and opted for our own picks from the menu

I just love dating this guy. I’d date him for the rest of my life…haha

The start of our romantic night, candle lit path.

Even the lighting inside was quite romantic.teehee

Yep, we were early birds. No one was there yet.

Something I have to get used to being married to Marco….people constantly messing up our last name. I’ve had Mendez, Mendoza but never a Mendoxa, I’d have to say that this is a first. We were Mr. and Mrs. Marco Mendoxa for the night.

Just outside the loo… I doubt you’ll ever get confused.

A little nook of random things and such

Here’s the set-up downstairs

It’s all in the details

The receiving area downstairs just outside the deli

An alcoholic’s logic..haha

Handpicking wine for dinner

For the love of cheese…

Marco did the handpicking of the cheese

Mr. and Mrs. Marco Mendoxa… I mean Mendezona. haha

They were handing out Hanuta hazelnut chocolate to the women before leaving the place. A good treat to end the night.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines celebration!

It wasn’t NIU, It was Me.

This was probably my 2nd visit to SM Aura’s NIU by Vikings and¬†with no fail I would feel sick right after. During the first visit, I thought it was the lamb I ate but Marco seemed perfectly fine so maybe it was something else. The vomiting in the middle of the night was mad and I thought I got food poisoned so explain to me why I was hopping from one buffet table to the other, when we went for Mikel’s birthday dinner. I was extra cautious because I still couldn’t determine what had happen the last time. Right after dessert, there it was again the feeling of nausea but this time milder. This time around I was convinced that it was the mixture of food smells that had caused it, thank God I was fine when we left Niu.

A few days later Marco and I would find out that I was pregnant and that alone would explain it all….It wasn’t NIU, it was me. Pun intended. haha.

Still goofing around. Happy Birthday Mikel!!!!

Recently got this snakeskin print shirt dress from Mom and it simply is the easiest to wear, the material is light and its a piece that’s easy to dress up or down. I opted¬†to cinch it with my go-to red skinny belt that happened to be made of faux snake skin which gave my outfit some texture and not to mention the pop of color that my bland ensemble needed. I accessorized with gold from head to toe except for the new white Druzy Ring that I got from Minted Jewelry. Shout out to Tiny Salloman, a good friend of mine since Kindergarten, for providing us with such classy pieces. You can check her items on Instagram, IG name: mintedjewelry.¬†

Enjoy the rest of your week guys!

University Diaries: Geek Chic

(TOP: muscle crop top, UP Bazaar; P60/ SKIRT: pencil skirt, F21/ SHOES: sneaker wedges, Image/ PURSE: Kenneth Cole Reaction/ ACCESSORIES: Turban and Earrings, F21)

Okay….so I wouldn’t exactly wear this to UP on a normal school day but I figured that going to school early in the morning on a weekend for a performance should still count as part of my “University Diaries” so here’s what I looked like after a 10AM¬†show for¬†DUP’s The Country Wife.

Believe me when I say that sometimes I go for function “other” (and not rather) than fashion— this muscle crop top is what I usually wear when working out at home and since the staff and actors usually do warm ups for weekend morning shows to help us loosen up right before the performance, it’d be¬†the¬†easiest¬†to move in this besides I needed to wear something that I could easily take off without messing up my curls. The pencil skirt serves as a “half slip” under my petticoat and the bag is just a perfect size for my script and other knick knacks like my make up, make up brushes, sachets of Kopiko 3-in-1 coffee and makeup wipes to name a few.

The turban I use not only as a hairpiece but also as a cosmetic headband to keep¬†my hair away from my face while putting on my make up. Sad to say I am not wearing these specs for fashion sake, they’re real and I need them badly¬†especially when I’m applying my make up backstage or reviewing my script right before “open house”.

The sneaker wedges—-for the additional inches, what’s new? Haha.

So there it is…a theater actor’s “very functional” take on Geek Chic. Enjoy!
